HISTORY
The U.S. Seafood Distributor Association's (USSDA) initial challenge was to respond to new regulations of siluriformes fish products (commonly known simply as “catfish”) when inspection of these products was transferred from Food and Drug Administration (FDA) jurisdiction to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). USSDA succeeded in ensuring that the implementation of these regulations did not disrupt the market for these products. USSDA continues to address regulatory challenges, trade, and policy issues, and works to create opportunities for its members through government and public relations, research, education, and industry promotion. USSDA and its members are committed to the continued safe commerce of siluriformes fish products, including responding to misinformation about the industry.
